Day 10: Lois and the hologram

Apparently, this should have been posted yesterday but I hosted an interment and funny things came around and forgot about this one. Okay I'm doing it; at least I was able to finish the installment for April. Woohoo! Another achievement. Haha.

This is a real holo. And I've been looking for this color since ancient and, eureka! Would you believe that I bought three bottles???

Having a hard time withstanding it's awesomeness? Me too. All of the pictures were taken outdoor, no flash. Oh, it's China Glaze He's Going In Circles (3 coats) and Orly Gumdrop.

Oh no. My nails are getting longer finally. =)

Day 9: Coraline

My ninth installment and I'm trying an unpopular coral nail polish this time.

Topped with two coats of Deborah Lippmann Holographic top color, China Glaze Doll House and mattified with Essie MAY. Isn't it pretty?

I thought that China Glaze Doll House is just similar to Essie A Cut Above. It is not and I'm glad to know that. I love the smooth finish and the flakies and the hexagrams! I know that I made it really simple but I got lots of compliments on this one. =)

Btw, the base is Missha Lucid Nail Polish CR01.

Burstable

This lacquer, which I got by impulse, is coincidentally my 95th. Not really bad and not too good.  A mediocre.

Day 8: Choco Candy Sprinkle

What if...

and

are joined together?

Will it result to...

or this?

Heart-warming indeed. I was a bit smiling and laughing while doing this because I first intended to do a fuchsia gradient but I'm happy that I changed my mind. For these nails, I use two coats of Nubar Swiss Chocolate ( I intend to use OPI Suzi Says Da! but repeal at the latter) and topped with Essie A Cut Above (luxe effects).

Nubar is my new love! Nah, don't get it wrong. I mean, I cannot explain how I fell in love at first use. It's just so perfect that I didn't give me any trouble. Very smooth, very, very good. Way much better that MAC Nail Polishes. This glitter effects from Essie is also an excellent job. Surprisingly smooth for a glitter polish. Barely two coats of Seche Vite and I'm done.

More shots.

Dupes or not?

This is just an intermission to conclude  my recent post. So here's my nail wheel's decision.

Zoya Indigo (L)
Essie Midnight Cami (R)
Five coats, no flash.

Zoya Indigo (L), Essie Midnight Cami (R)
Five coats, with flash.
The second picture is taken indirectly from sunlight with flash.

As I said, I cannot see the difference and not even the shimmer can justify any discrepancy. Let me know if you can see the difference. =)

Day 7: Midnight Indigo

Essie Midnight Cami and Zoya Indigo. They are intense. As in intense-tional. I've been looking over the web for any dupes of those colors as well as comparisons for each but I end up with nothing. Well, if I overlook some reviews, please let me know.

They have obvious color discrepancy judging through their bottles. But wait...

These are combinations of Midnight Cami and Indigo. Can you tell which is which? Okay, I won't make it hard for you. Pinkie/Middle/Thumb: Zoya Indigo; Ring/Index: Essie Midnight Cami.

Zoya Indigo is described as blackened/dark blue with shimmer. While Essie Midnight Cami is a shimmering deep twilight blue. Those descriptions are true but I cannot justify the shimmer especially under the top coat.

One more pic.

Oh okay. So that's the shimmer.  I forgot the flash. Still no difference at all. I'm almost about to conclude that they are deadly dupes. I just need someone to hint me if they have tried these colors. Or let my nail wheel decide. Meanwhile I put Essie MAY on my left hand and I'm enjoying that (even) I cannot recognize which is Essie and which is Zoya!

Finally,  these two are gorgeous colors. I decided not to stamp or put anything 'cos they are barely noticeable just as is.

Day 6: Volt-in

I'm getting amazed lately while trying/comparing my unused polishes with similar colors. Well, this one is really a surprise for me. Don't think that I am being exaggerated, just excited. Haha!

Can you recognize these colors? Okay. This is taken in daytime, w/ no artificial light/s and macro lenses. The one in the right looks darker and that's true. At first, I assume that they may not be dupes but I can make a gradient out of them. True; they aren't dupes. Wrong; I can not make a gradient using them.

R - China Glaze Stone Cold (matte)
L - China Glaze Jitterbug

So, what did I end up?

Fyi, I apply only ChG Stone Cold for the base and Seche Vite for the gloss.

Using my sister's D9100, it takes time for me to bring about a good shot for the rest of the pics. Soooorry! :D

Day 5: La Pinta

You might be thinking that I literally painted my nails this time. Oh no, no, no. I don't have plans of using an artist's brush. *Bleh =D

This is not the first time that I use ChG Luxe & Lush but this might be the last time that I will use it. Just at least that it looked much glamorous than I the first time that I tried it. And just that it proved me that Luxe & Lush is the ugliest of all the flakies that I've seen! Compare to Nubar 2010 and Essie Shine of the Times (not to mention Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure), all of them are smooth, thin, no chunks/bumps and fine flakes. L & L is the opposite. Anyway, I love the name, Pinta.

TRIVIA:

  • Pinta is the Spanish/Tagalog for paint
  • La Pinta was the name of Columbus' fastest ship.
  • The (Tagalog) word pintakasi actually means "intercessor" but it eventually evolved that now it means "a patron saint".
So, I think it was named Pinta because you can beautifully paint your nails using this color! What I love from Zoya are: excellent formula, excellent colors and they use ladies' names. Hope to see my name one day in their nail polishes.

Day 4: The Green-dient

Oh well, I'm finally back and I'm a li'l tired (*whew) so I'm making this short but meaningful.

Green gradient. I will be honest because my brain is so blunt today that my endogenous wikipedia is not functioning; and since that green is one of my best loved color, that is it.

Can you name at least one? If you suppose that ChG For Audrey is one of those present then you know you're right. How about the other gradient? (Index to pinkie) Namely MAC Mischievous Mint, Orly Gumdrop, ChG For Audrey and Misa Dirty, Sexy, Money.

Mischievous Mint is maybe a dupe of Essie Mint Candy Apple, eh? Next time we'll see. =)

Ooh-la-la! This is an obvious gorgeousness! I think I made a good edifice.

Day 3: Dupes or not?

I didn't notice that my second (polish) storage box is quarter full. I can sense that I'm soon going to get a new one and that means moolah out.

And I notice that I haven't check for any dupes. Oh yeah! I'm eyeing on three colors. Let's start.

Zoya Envy (L)
OPI Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow (R)

Dupes or not?

Hmmm... Looks they are. Closer,

Judging base on the photo, they look pretty the same; when I suddenly remember the marvel hero "flash" and Mr. Sun.

Mr. Sun confirmed they are not. Oh well, for me, if you're not meticulous, either are good substitute for each other. Good that I own both :D

Next.

OPI Rumples' Wiggin' (Index/Ring)
MAC Little Girl Type (Middle/Pinkie)

In the bottle, they are really, very similar. When I put them in my nails, they are such a complement to each other.

Ordinary eye might see them as a powder purple. Who cares? I love it.

I'll be away from my screen for five days to attend our Youth Camp. Will resume on Saturday.

Day 2: Chrome's physiology

Seriously, I'm getting addicted to chromes. I love it's uniqueness, plus, it's an instant nail art!

Just so you know, this is my second trial. I got this polish last December and I'm overly excited to put them in my nails because it looks so promising in the bottle. I almost dump it because I hate it from the brush to formula. But now, I'm happy that I kept it. =)

Essie Glamour Purse
Wet n' Wild Gray's Anatomy

I put 2 coats of Gray's Anatomy over 3 coats of Glamour Purse and that's the result. Like-y!

Day 1: Short But Happy

This is it. Another  happening that pushed me into a funny challenge. So here I am again, whining about short nails which I purposely cut. Long story; gonna tell it at the end of this challenge.

Complaint #2: Not being happy about OPI Miso Happy With This Color. Okay. Maybe, maybe it's just that, it's not properly named. Seriously, heaven knows how hard I tried liking it as I swatch it 3-4 times; close to perfect but complaint #3, it takes forever to dry.

I took a shot of it while it's wet and I realized that hmmm... it's the perfect nude on my skin in contrast to my previous post that it's Essie Topless & Barefoot.

Go with Green

So, it took me, no, not a week, just 6 1/2 days. As I said, my sister is here and we're spending all the time together, plus I attended the every night's events that I'm lacking time to do-undo-redo my nails. Yeah so many reason. Haha.

I devotedly tried the Katniss Everdeen's manicure but I finished nothing. Lol. Again, I might be trying it next time. Alright,  the last event that I attended is the (Graduation) ball party and I unconsciously wore the a-la Fat Tuesdays without the violet/purple shade.

China Glaze Passion
Missha HGR01
Deborah Lippmann Edge of Glory (top color)
China Glaze Luxe & Lush

Which color do you think made it perfect? Hmmm, they compliment just perfectly.

These nails actually remind me of something. Mardi Gras. At least, even I didn't end with an arrow or fire, I ended with a rex.
